What started as a hobby twelve years ago has flourished into a stained and fused glass business, Glass by Simone. The glass bug took hold when I entered one of my fabricated stained glass pieces into a local competition at a stained glass shop celebrating the annual International Art Glass Month in April 1999. The art piece won the People’s Choice award and I subsequently sold my first piece.
Once I retired in 2001 from the federal government as a systems analyst, I took several more classes in advanced lamp making and glass fusing. In 2002 I worked part time at a stained glass shop in Virginia for 2 ½ years until my husband and I relocated to Hampstead, North Carolina.
I now work in all facets of glass incorporating photography, fused glass, and stained glass to create my art as well as provide classes in stained and mosaic glass. I have also designed commission pieces for clients looking for something special.
