LEE LOWRIMORE
Woodworker
Lee began woodworking in a utilitarian way, building sets for the theaters where he worked. Twenty five years ago, he needed a piece of furniture that could not be found in any store. A friend with a woodshop taught him mortise and tenon construction so he could build the piece for himself, and he was forever hooked.
Building custom furniture leaves behind small pieces of wood. These lovely remainders call out to be used. The items that result must adhere to Lee’s guiding principles of design - simplicity, utility, and durability. His work is designed to be beautiful to the eye and to the hand, while always serving the purpose for which it is built.
