Chris Higgins
METALSMITH/JEWELRY DESIGNER
Christine Higgins formed Fishbone Designs after studying metalsmithing at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. While art has always been a passion for Chris, it has taken a backseat during her 30-year career in venture capital investment management, business consulting, and advertising. Chris left the corporate world in 2009 to move to Carolina Beach, and in 2011 was able to fulfill another goal when she opened Artful Living Group, art gallery and gift shop.
Chris has additional silversmith training from Moore College of the Arts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and Penland School of Crafts.
Her jewelry reflects her mixed Japanese and Cherokee heritage with striking designs around colorful natural stones and precious gemstones. In addition, Chris specializes in designing and creating new heirloom jewelry from clients’ old jewelry and gemstones.
