BETH CARTER
Glass Artist
As an empty nester with more time on my hands, I decided to explore hobbies in which I always had an interest. I started by taking an introductory class on fused glass at a Durham glass studio and went back for a class on stained glass. I was hooked! I spent several years working in both mediums while working and living in Durham. Upon moving to Carolina Beach I decided to setup my own studio space. After retiring in 2021, I have been spending more time on developing my stained glass skills. I have done panels, suncatchers and ornaments and have been exploring various 3D projects, such as spinners and lanterns. Initially, I was creating projects for family and friends, but I started selling my work in 2022, beginning at the inaugural Pleasure Island Art in the Yard event.
I plan to expand my studio with equipment enabling me to work again with fused glass. There are definitely more classes in my future as I continue to learn more about the fusing process and work to improve my stained glass skills.
