MIKE SELBO
Potter
I have always enjoyed being creative and have worked in multiple mediums throughout the years. When I discovered clay, I found a medium that provided me an avenue to merge several artistic outlets. My work is influenced by the world around me: nature, street art, tattoos, travel, culture. I often find myself walking through life looking at things with an imaginative mind. I’m constantly seeking a way to incorporate an edge of personality into functional pottery.
Working primarily in stoneware and porcelain; my pieces are all individually designed, hand thrown/built and painted. I enjoy using bold color, fine lines and textural surface work to create one of a kind functional art whose focus is to bring thought to the mind and joy to the eye.
Working in clay has an amazing way of reminding me about the important things in life: patience, perseverance, focus and joy are just a few. These reminders coupled with the kindness, laughter, support and creative inspiration of the artist/collector community spark my passion to continue in the creative process.
