Mary Beth Cook - Mixed Media Sculptor
|
My journey through art surprisingly had its beginnings while studying Horticulture at Penn State University, PA where a flower arranging class brought out my love of color and design.
Since then I've explored many art forms and mediums, including the design and crafting of flower gardens, floral wreaths, and artistic jewelry. My creative vision has extended into the inimitable art of revitalizing old furniture through the application of mosaic patterns from broken plates and pottery.
After moving to the Wilmington area, I've started yet another avenue of artistic expression - the creation of distinctive and evocative sculptures called "Kindred Spirits." The medium is a mixture of fabric tailored over armature, cast with an innovative stone-like polymer, capturing a magical instant of a woman's life - in the timeless form of stone sculpture.
My art and life are companions in an odyssey of experience and expression - learning and sharing. Each Kindred Spirit is reaching out - to celebrate all that a person's life is, and can be. |
